Hello and Welcome to you creative makers. Thanks for dropping by! I’m Mary the owner of Paper Pen Sanpo. Like you, I love to be creative. I enjoy thinking about how to make something out of nothing and ways to make something beautiful, fun, inviting and interesting.
I was born in Japan and from an early age, I could be found spending time drawing, sewing, folding origami or trying any new craft activities that sparked my interest.
Prior to running my own business, I worked in the community sector for 20 years as a counsellor/coach/support worker, mainly in the areas of mental health and most recently, with people with substance use disorders with a rehabilitation centre.
Although traditional counselling frameworks were helpful, I found myself gravitating to, it’s no surprise, creative art therapy. I found it to be the most natural and easy-flowing way to work with people.
Now I hope to combine my 2 passions, the love of creative arts and the joy of supporting people with their well-being, self-care and growth. I believe that joy, ease, and flow reside in the creative arts and this creative energy, magically translates to well-being and connectedness.
With all this said, the vision of Paper Pen Sanpo is to provide you with beautiful quality products, most of which come from Japan, renouned for producing wonderful stationery and washi products. But also in addition to this, I hope to provide resources and a community, to support women to be creative as a way to better health, to find time to destress and feel a sense of joy within themselves.
Mary lives in Brisbane Australia with her partner and fluffy white dog, she loves dancing, enjoying nature, spending time with her grown-up creative daughter (tattoo artist), and sharing delicious food with great company.
